What should I expect during my first massage therapy visit?

 

You will be required to fill out a medical history form. Your therapist will spend time reviewing your history, what your current ailments are and the best therapeutic plan for you.

 

Where will my massage session take place?

 

Your bodywork session will take place in a private and comfortable room on a padded and heated massage table. Your comfort is important to us!

 

What do I wear during the massage?

 

Depending on the technique or where your pain is, you may or may not need to undress. You will be covered with a sheet and blanket at all times except the area being worked on.

 

What are the benefits of massage and bodywork? ?Massage and bodywork can help with circulation, increased joint flexibility, a faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture and reduce stress. ??

 

What do I do during a massage therapy treatment?

 

RELAX! Your therapist will guide you through the session if they need you to move into a different position. Some people like to talk, some don’t. Whatever makes you comfortable so that the best optimal result can be achieved.

 

Is a massage always an appropriate method of healing?

 

There are actually several medical conditions that would make massage inappropriate, but we will determine if there are any issues that would contradict the massage once we have your medical history. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage prior to any session. Your massage therapist may require a recommendation or approval from your doctor.

 

How long will a massage treatment last?

 

The average therapeutic massage treatment lasts approximately one hour. Many people prefer a 60- to 90-minute session for optimal results.

 

Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?


There are many types of massage and bodywork; including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movement, ice therapy, application of pressure to specific points, stretching, and more. We can discuss which methods may be most appropriate for you.

 

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?


Most feel relaxed and do not have aches and pains. Depending on the work done, some muscular pain can occur the day following treatment. That discomfort should subside on the 2nd day after treatment.
